Craft Central (Ties, Fabric Flowers, Fabric Balls)

Come check out my new blog at BeingGenevieve.com

Here are three few crafts that I have recently done.
1. I finally made Braxton some of those cute little boy ties that I see everywhere. I got the pattern from here. I am so happy with them! I just hope Braxton is just as happy.
2. These are flower fabric headbands that I made using scraps of fabric I had. Here is the link that I used but, I changed the size of the flower (theirs was for a purse and much to big) and I did 3 layers instead of 2. My template for the fabric flower is located below. I used 3 different fabrics. The first layer I cut 2 of the same fabric. The second layer I cut 1 of a fabric, 1 of another fabric, and then 2 of the fabric I did on the first layer. The third later I did the same as the second layer (of fabric choices). Step 3 is hard to see what they have done since the fabrics are the same, so I have included a picture of what it should look like. Do the flower just as the website does (except for the few changes I have told you to make), but when it comes time to apply to a headband here is what you do. Cut a piece of felt and hot glue it to the opposite side of the headband. This will ensure that it stays on well and won't fall off.

Here are a few other fabric hair flowers you could try. Some other fabric flowers I haven't tried yet are located here at my new favorite craft blog.
This is how step 3 should look.
This is how the felt should be glued on, with the headband pinned in between the flower and felt.
I placed my flower offset to a side. You can decide how to place on the headband.
Template for the flower. Double click to enlarge all the way. After it has printed make sure the 2x2 inch square is still 2x2 inches. If not let me know and I will see what I can do, I can e-mail the PDF to you.
3. Here are some fabric balls I made that have bells in them. Braxton loves to throw them and then chase them. Best part is, that he can't injure himself or anything else with these soft balls. Here is the pattern that I used. I didn't include the beach ball part on mine.

Vermont

Two weeks ago we went to Vermont to visit Kevin's brother Michael and his family. The were so accommodating; we had a terrific time! We loved spending time with Michael, Monica, Taylor, Owen, and Grant. Vermont was so beautiful with all the leaves changing! Everyone should be able to see New England in the fall.

Southern Utah

At the end of September we visited some of the national parks in southern Utah. We went to Zions, Bryce, and the Grand Canyon. Kevin and I had never been to any of them and thought it was time to go. We took our bikes and the bike trailer to ride through some of the trails. We had a fantastic time!
