Family Pic

Come check out my new blog at BeingGenevieve.com

We had my soon-to-be brother-in-law snap a picture for us when we were in Kaysville last week.
(This was so Kevin could take my little sister, Erin's, engagement pictures.)

It amazes me how the older children get, the more difficult it is to get them to look at the camera let alone smile at it.

We did get some descent ones of Kevin and I, but we will just have to be satisfied that Braxton and Jace are in the picture even though they aren't smiling.

Except when we told Braxton we were all done he couldn't stop from smiling! Silly Boy!!!

Thanks Chadd for all your help!

You should check out some of the pictures Kevin took for Erin and Chadd's engagement pictures! They look wonderful!!!

Jace is 6 months?!?!

Come check out my new blog at BeingGenevieve.com

Jace will be six months here in a week and we can't believe it!
He is growing so fast.

He has a wonderful disposition and is hitting his milestones quicker than Braxton did. He loves his big brother and wants to just jump up and chase him around the house.

He also has a love for pulling hair so watch out!

Spring or Winter?

The weather this year has been crazy!
Last week, we had wonderful weather in the 50's and Braxton had a blast being able to finally go outside.

This week, we have had very cold weather and snow almost every night. I wish the weather would just make up its mind. It keeps getting our hopes up that spring might be early this year.

Baby #2

Come check out my new blog at BeingGenevieve.com

We are happy to announce that we are expecting an addition to our family! I am due on September 12th shortly after we move to Logan, Utah for Kevin's masters program. I am not very excited to move while I am that large and uncomfortable, but it probably is best to move before he/she comes than after he/she comes. We find out if it is a boy or girl on April 18th and I will post what we find out.

Governor's Ball

Come check out my new blog at BeingGenevieve.com

The Governor's Ball is a celebration for the inauguration of the Governor. It is held every 4 years and is so much fun to attend. It was especially fun this year because Justin and Wendy their children, Stacey and Justin their children, Brent and Julie, and Kevin, Braxton and I were all able to make it. We missed Michael and Monica and their children, but hope they can make it next time. Brent, my father-in-law, was recently voted in as the President Pro-Tempore and his conference room was where all the appetizers were being served. We all just had fun eating and socializing in his office.

December 2010

Come check out my new blog at BeingGenevieve.com

These are a few things I made in December. . .
This is the tree skirt I made for our Christmas tree. I have been wanting to make one since we got married. It took forever to applique all of the holly leaves on, but I am happy with how it turned out.

This is a table runner that I made with the extra fabric from my tree skirt.
I made these height boards for my sisters, that have children, for Christmas. This way they can measure and mark how their kids are growing. (The saying along the side I used is, "The Time Has Come To Stand A Little Taller -Gordon B. Hinckley)

This is a purse/scripture bag that I made for Ruby for Christmas. She is just like me and LOVES purses. You can never have too many purses.
Braxton on Christmas morning with some of his new gifts, his turtle and his Toy Story chair. His turtle projects stars on his ceiling at night and his shell glows. He has become scared of the dark and this is a perfect nightlight that he loves.

Happy Birthday/Halloween Braxton

Come check out my new blog at BeingGenevieve.com

I can't believe it is almost Thanksgiving and I haven't posted any pictures of Braxton's birthday/Halloween. Braxton turned one on the 30th of October, aka the day everyone went trick-or-treating this year. Braxton's birthday was a fun/crazy day of cooking and running around for mom. I made a ghost and bat cake in the morning, homemade chili (Halloween tradition) in the early afternoon, and breadsticks in the late afternoon. Then we had Grandma and Grandpa Hill over for dinner, presents, cake and ice cream, and then we had to hurry and dress up to go trick-or-treating. By the time it hit 8 pm I was a sleep on the couch. We had a wonderful day! Braxton LOVED ripping the paper off of presents and seeing what was inside.
Braxton as a dragon for Halloween! He LOVED being in his costume! Kevin was a pirate and I was a witch, but the picture with all of us turned out too blurry.
Our pumpkins, Jack the Halloween king from the Nightmare before Christmas and Tinkerbell.

Braxton eating his birthday cake.
Braxton's cakes that I hand carved and all I have to say is that it isn't as easy as I thought it would be!

Braxton One Year Photos

Come check out my new blog at BeingGenevieve.com

Braxton found Kevin's apple on the computer desk that he forgot to take to work.
Braxton turned one on the 30th of October.  We had a great little celebration and then went trick-or-treating.  Braxton was a pro at opening presents. Who would have though?  I will add pictures of his birthday a little later.

Since Braxton is now one we went out on Saturday and did a little photo shoot (luckily since it has been snowing ALL day today.  Here is a preview of a few pictures.  If you would like to see more please click here.
Braxton on the railroad tracks right outside our apartment.

Braxton playing in the leaves, at the park, across the street from our apartment.
Braxton LOVES the swings!

Craft Central (Ties, Fabric Flowers, Fabric Balls)

Come check out my new blog at BeingGenevieve.com

Here are three few crafts that I have recently done.
1. I finally made Braxton some of those cute little boy ties that I see everywhere. I got the pattern from here. I am so happy with them! I just hope Braxton is just as happy.
2. These are flower fabric headbands that I made using scraps of fabric I had. Here is the link that I used but, I changed the size of the flower (theirs was for a purse and much to big) and I did 3 layers instead of 2. My template for the fabric flower is located below. I used 3 different fabrics. The first layer I cut 2 of the same fabric. The second layer I cut 1 of a fabric, 1 of another fabric, and then 2 of the fabric I did on the first layer. The third later I did the same as the second layer (of fabric choices). Step 3 is hard to see what they have done since the fabrics are the same, so I have included a picture of what it should look like. Do the flower just as the website does (except for the few changes I have told you to make), but when it comes time to apply to a headband here is what you do. Cut a piece of felt and hot glue it to the opposite side of the headband. This will ensure that it stays on well and won't fall off.

Here are a few other fabric hair flowers you could try. Some other fabric flowers I haven't tried yet are located here at my new favorite craft blog.
This is how step 3 should look.
This is how the felt should be glued on, with the headband pinned in between the flower and felt.
I placed my flower offset to a side. You can decide how to place on the headband.
Template for the flower. Double click to enlarge all the way. After it has printed make sure the 2x2 inch square is still 2x2 inches. If not let me know and I will see what I can do, I can e-mail the PDF to you.
3. Here are some fabric balls I made that have bells in them. Braxton loves to throw them and then chase them. Best part is, that he can't injure himself or anything else with these soft balls. Here is the pattern that I used. I didn't include the beach ball part on mine.

Vermont

Come check out my new blog at BeingGenevieve.com

Two weeks ago we went to Vermont to visit Kevin's brother Michael and his family. The were so accommodating; we had a terrific time! We loved spending time with Michael, Monica, Taylor, Owen, and Grant. Vermont was so beautiful with all the leaves changing! Everyone should be able to see New England in the fall.
One of the many hillsides covered in beautiful autumn leaves.

Kevin (and Braxton) helping Taylor practice the piano.
Michael and Owen taking a Sunday nap.
